Evocations can be performed in two ways: as a Major Action or a Minor Action. Regardless of the method, you may only perform one evocation per turn.

Major Action: The alchemist can apply multiple evocations at once if they have "Target: 1 character" and "Range of 1 or 2." In this case, the number of cards consumed equals the evocation’s cost multiplied by the number of characters. Alchemists may use material cards of different ranks, but the required number of cards remains unchanged, and the effect on all targets is determined by the lowest-ranked card used. Whenever an Evocation is used with a Major Action, an Evocation Check must be performed. If the check fails, all used cards are lost, and no effect occurs. Only one check is required, regardless of the number of targets, and if a target resists, the Success Value of the check is opposed by the target’s Willpower check.

Minor Action: As a Minor Action, an evocation can be performed at any point during the character’s turn without requiring a check. However, it can only affect a single target, and if the target chooses to resist, the Success Value is treated as 0, meaning the target automatically resists.

Finally, certain Evocations can be used during Combat Preparation in the same way as a Minor Action.
